Meditations with Music
Osho Meditations: From Mind to No-mind
Meditation is a state beyond the mind; beyond thoughts, ideas and feelings. It is a state of no-mind. In full awareness, one witnesses one's chattering mind, one's emotions and experiences. It is not concentration. Osho describes meditation as 'thoughtless awareness'. It may only happen for a fraction of a second but this taste of bliss is beyond words. And enough to recharge one's energies. For this experience, Osho has devised these four basic techniques for the information-burdened and stress-laden modern mind. "Waiting is meditation — waiting with full awareness. And then it comes, it descends on you, it surrounds you, it plays around you, it dances around you, it cleanses you, it purifies you, it transforms you."
-OSHO
Dynamic Meditation:Early Morning
Dynamic means effort, much effort, absolute effort. And meditation means silence, no effort, no activity. Be so active that the whole energy becomes a movement, no energy is left static in you. The whole energy has been called forth, nothing is left behind. All the frozen parts of energy are melting, flowing. You are not a frozen thing now; you have become dynamic. When everything is moving and you have become a cyclone, then become alert. Remember, be mindful — and in this cyclone suddenly you will find a centre which is absolutely silent. This is the centre of the cyclone. This is you -you in your divinity, you as a god.
-OSHO
Technique - One hour in four stages.
- Fast breathing: Breathe as fast as possible, because we are using breathing as a hammer. It is to be a hammering inside for the coiled energy to be uncoiled. For 10 minutes.
- Catharsis: Dance, jump, cry, laugh — whatsoever happens to you, but do something. Movement is necessary — whatsoever is inside must be thrown outside. This catharsis leads to a purity, to a very deep cleansing. For 10 minutes.
- Shout Hoo!: So go on crying, "hoo! hoo! hoo!" This too is to be used as hammer. This mantra, "hoo," It acts like a hammer to make the energy rise upwards. For 10 minutes.
- Stop: Just as dead, close your eyes, no movement waiting for the divine to descend. Experience the stillness, the peace. For 15 minutes.
- Celebration: Celebrate through dance, expressing your gratitude towards the whole. Carry your happiness with you throughout the day. For 15 minutes.
Kundalini or Shaking Meditation: Afternoon
At first, the intense body shaking, removes all negativity, tiredness and stress. At a deeper level, it releases your inactive energy of the 'kundalini' or the energy symbolised as a sleeping serpent at the base of the spine. This energy is aroused by meditation and ascends the spina! channel with the opening of seven centres or 'chakras'. When it reaches the top or the seventh centre, one is in union with the supreme soul.
Technique - One hour in four stages.
- Shake the whole body: Your head, arms, hands, legs, waist and legs - all at the same time. Eyes open or closed. For 15 minutes
- Dance: Totally in any manner or style, become graceful and light. For 15 minutes - For 15 minutes
- Sit silently and close your eyes. Feel the energy settling inside. For 15 minutes
- Lie down and be still. Be open. Let the energy flow in. For 15 minutes.
Nataraj or Dancing Meditation: Mid-morning or early evening
Lord Shiva is usually shown as Nataraj - the god of artistic skill in his famous dance pose. Standing on one leg, he balances the other leg and his four arms in an exquisite pose in a symbolic meaning. "Nataraj is the dancer of all dancers. You cannot separate the dancer and the dance, they are always together. If there is a dance, there is the dancer; the dance has no other life than the dancer. And when the dancer is really in dance he is not separate from his dance either. The dancer dissolves into his dance."
-OSHO
Technique - 65 minute dancing meditation in three stages
- Dance: Let go completely; do not bother how you are dancing, just dance like a child. For 40 minutes.
- Lie down silently, eyes closed, silent and still. For 20 minutes.
- Dance to celebrate and to enjoy For 5 minutes
Nadabrahma or Humming Meditation: Any time of the day
The Osho Nadabrahma meditation is based on an ancient Tibetan technique. Originally, it was done in the early afternoon but it can be done at any time of the day, alone or in a group of people. It includes humming and witnessing stages, followed by flowing circular hand movements and a stage of stillness.
Technique - One Hour in three stages.
- Sit in relaxed position Close your eyes. Start humming. Become like a hollow bamboo. For 30 minutes.
- Move your palms, facing upwards, in an outward circulal manner. Start at the navel and make two circles going outwards left and right and coming together. Give out the energy. After seven and a half minutes, the music will change. Now face your palms downwards and move them in the opposite direction. Hands will come towards the navel and divide outwards towards the sides of your body. Take in the energy. For 15 minutes.
- Sit with eyes closed, totally still and silent. For 15 minutes.

Multiplying More And More
The new decade of 1990s was named as 'the Nightmarish Nineties' by Osho just 19 days before he left his body. Considering what the world has suffered, the one just over can be called 'the Disastrous Decade'. But Osho's vision, insights and meditations have multiplied manifold during these two decades.
